“We’re all Americans”

My brother Ross was in line at Chick-Fil-a the other day and when he got to the window, he put his car in “park” while he paid and got his food. Wouldn’t you know it, he could not get it to go back into “drive”! As always, there was a long line behind him and things really bogged down in a hurry. He said that they had a girl directing cars around him and handing out coupons to the frustrated customers as he sat helplessly stalled.

In a minute, a black man approached him and asked, “What’s the problem?” Ross explained and with an air of authority the man said, “Step out of the car. I think I can help you.”

He fiddled around for a minute and then stepped out. “I’m going to have to get under the car”, he explained.

He pulled his car in front of Ross’ and it was then that Ross noticed the Marine emblem on the bumper. In no time the man had slipped into a dirty jumpsuit, jacked the car up and slid underneath. Marine Corps EmblemWhen he emerged, he let the car down and told Ross that he had it in gear, but Ross must take it directly to his mechanic because when he took it out of gear, it would not go back.

Ross had no cash, but thanking the man profusely, he obtained his address. The stranger said, “We’re all Americans. We have to look out for each other.”

Knowing Ross, there will be a nice note and compensation for the kindness shown.

Once again, you never know what a day will hold!
